During a long period of ill health I turned to art therapy. After many pictures, early retirement at 54 and my health beginning to improve, I moved onto restyling furniture - I began with Gary's new oak furniture as it didn't go with my home -oops:)
This lead to a new passion. My house became my workshop and this began the journey of selling - Was Shabby - Now Chic was formed.
Just as things were looking up Gary was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer.
Everything moved very quickly and we managed to get a special licence to marry 48 hours before he went for surgery.

Gary's passion has always been WW1 and as well as collecting items he also began selling - which lead onto Milliary Postcards - thankfully his 'hobby' hasn't overrun the house like mine did.
What we didn't see coming was managing the barn shop I used to have selling space in renamed
Missy's Emporium (named after the puppy we rescued) with around 40 vendors to look after and open 7 days a week.
However, after 15 months and the business doing well, health and other issues were taking their toll on both of us so we closed the business and relocated.
We now have our happy place, where we can independently focus on our own businesses in the same space and have our pup with us (she's nearly 5 but she still gets called pup)x

I feel that between us we keep the past alive - Gary trading and researching WW1 and me reviving vintage and antique furniture and household items.
Anyone who knows me will say I never stop - so watch this space to see what else emerges on this beautiful rural piece of Leicestershire.
